Child and Teen Counselling
Child to Teen - Specialist care by experienced clinicians
Adolescence typically begins around 12 years of age and is the developmental stage between childhood and adulthood. It is a time when young people or teens strive to find their own identities, come to terms with their changing bodies, changing relationships and develop the ability to critically reason. It is also a time of confusion, stress and conflict as adolescents take on adult roles and responsibilities and rely more and more on their peers for support.
Child and Teen Counselling uses a range of therapies to understand the link between behaviour, thoughts and emotions as behaviour in children and adolescents can mask difficult emotions. Evolving Minds aims to provide a safe and trusting environment where children and teens are able to explore their thoughts, feelings and behaviour in a non-threatening way. This is achieved through the use of a number of interventions such as talking therapy, play therapy, craft, art, puppets, story-telling and imaginative role-play.
Using a range of therapies, we will help “re-frame” reactions and provide valuable tools to cope with life’s obstacles and challenging behaviour. Evolving Minds takes a collaborative approach when working with children, teens and families by helping parents and carers gain an understanding of their child's behaviour.
Evolving Minds are highly qualified professionals trained to provide counselling to children and teens with a range of presentations including, depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse, sexual abuse, challenging behaviour including oppositional defiant disorder, self-harm, conduct disorder, gaming addiction and body image.
