Domestic Violence Support
at Evolving Minds Counselling
At Evolving Minds Counselling, we provide a safe and supportive space for those impacted by domestic violence.
Domestic violence is not limited to physical harm, it includes emotional, psychological, financial, sexual, social, and spiritual abuse. It is a pattern of behaviour used to control, intimidate, or isolate another person, often creating a cycle of fear, confusion and dependency.

This cycle may involve periods of calm followed by escalating tension and episodes of abuse, making it difficult for individuals to leave or seek help. Survivors often experience a range of emotional responses, including shame, fear, guilt and self-doubt, which can significantly affect mental health and daily functioning.

Survivors of domestic violence may experience a range of emotional, psychological, and physical symptoms. These can include anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, difficulty trusting others and challenges with emotional regulation. Some may develop post-traumatic stress symptoms, such as flashbacks, nightmares, or heightened vigilance.
Physical health can also be affected, with issues like fatigue, headaches, and sleep disturbances. Children exposed to domestic violence may show changes in behaviour, struggle with emotional expression, or have difficulties forming secure relationships.

Our clinicians have specialised training in domestic and family violence and understand the complexities involved. We offer trauma-informed, evidence-based care to support people in processing their experiences, building emotional resilience, and restoring a sense of safety.
We also provide support for children and adolescents affected by violence in the home, helping them make sense of their experiences in a way that feels safe and age-appropriate.

Healing from domestic violence is possible, and support is available. If you're ready to take the first step or want to learn more, call Evolving Minds Counselling on 02 8519 4197.
