Marie Farthing

Warm, Creative and Inclusive

Marie is a mental health social worker, counsellor and specialised yoga teacher.  With more than 18 years experience working with children, adolescents and adults in various fields of practice.  Marie is experienced working with disability, trauma, domestic and family violence, victims of assault, bereavement and carers support.

Marie utilises a variety of skills to help people of all ages and abilities express their thoughts and feelings creatively.  This can include art, stories, roleplay, games and movement.  Marie uses focused psychological strategies that are proven to be effective in supporting her clients.  These include: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, relaxation strategies, psychoeducation. 

Marie also provides parent/carer coaching sessions to strengthen relationships with children and adolescents on the Autism Spectrum and draws from evidence-based behavioural play therapies.  She is also a certified AutPlay Therapist.
