Therapy for Mood Disorders

At Evolving Minds Counselling and Psychology

At Evolving Minds Counselling and Psychology, we recognise how mood disorders can affect daily functioning, relationships and emotional wellbeing. Our team of experienced clinicians offers compassionate, evidence-based therapy in a safe, respectful and non-judgemental environment.

Mood disorders involve ongoing changes in mood that interfere with how a person feels, thinks and manages life. They may present as persistent low mood, irritability, or emotional highs and lows. Common conditions include major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, persistent depressive disorder (dysthymia), seasonal affective disorder, postnatal depression, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). These conditions often co-occur with anxiety and other mental health conditions.

Living with a mood disorder can impact energy levels, concentration, sleep, self-worth and decision-making. It can strain relationships, affect work or study, and in more severe cases, lead to social withdrawal, self-harm, or thoughts of suicide. Early intervention and skilled therapeutic support can make a meaningful difference in managing symptoms and improving quality of life.

Our team uses a range of evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), adapting treatment to your individual needs and goals. We work collaboratively to support emotional regulation and build insight.
