Meet Catherine Roberts
Catherine is a mental health clinician at Evolving Minds Counselling and Psychology, offering in-person consultations for therapy for children, adolescents and families at our Menai practice in the Sutherland Shire. She also offers couples and marriage counselling in Sydney.
With over 28 years of experience across the UK and Australia, Catherine brings a depth of clinical expertise and a calm, compassionate presence to her work. She supports clients with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, school refusal, academic stress, trauma, identity exploration, and eating disorders.
Catherine also works with couples and families navigating communication challenges, parenting stress, and life transitions. Her family and couples therapy approach draws on systems theory and the Gottman Method, an evidence-based framework for strengthening relationships, improving communication and rebuilding emotional connection to support healthier dynamics and more connected relationships.
Catherine Roberts’ style is relational, person-centred, and grounded in psychological safety. She is particularly skilled at engaging clients who may feel unsure or hesitant about therapy, creating a space that feels warm, steady, and responsive to individual and family needs.
She draws on a range of evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Her integrative approach supports emotional regulation, resilience, and stronger relationships within couples, within the family and beyond.
Clients often describe Catherine as a warm, thoughtful, and grounded mental health therapist in Sutherland Shire. She offers a safe and affirming environment where clients can feel understood and supported as they work toward meaningful change.
