We offer in-person appointments at our Menai psychology clinic, supporting clients from Bangor, Illawong, Engadine and surrounding suburbs, as well as online therapy for clients across Sydney and Australia.
Grief is a deeply personal experience, and no two journeys are the same. You may experience sadness, anger, guilt, disbelief or confusion, sometimes all at once. These emotions rarely follow a predictable path, and it is natural to revisit feelings as you adjust to changes in your life and relationships. Grief can also affect concentration, sleep, appetite and motivation, making everyday tasks feel more difficult. Understanding these responses can help bring clarity and compassion to your experience.
Our clinicians provide a compassionate, non-judgemental space where you can express your feelings and explore emotions at a pace that feels right for you. Therapy can help you recognise patterns in your grief, develop ways to cope with intense emotions, and gradually reconnect with a sense of stability, meaning and purpose.
Our psychologists and counsellors draw on a range of evidence-based approaches for grief counselling in the Sutherland Shire, including:
• Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
• Narrative Therapy
• Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
• Interpersonal Therapy (IPT)
• Mindfulness-based approaches
You can explore these approaches further on our Our Services page.
For children and young people, creative and play-based therapeutic activities may be incorporated to provide gentle, expressive ways to process grief. These approaches can help explore emotions that may be difficult to put into words. Learn more about our Child Counselling and Adolescent Counselling services.
Where helpful, therapy may include involvement from the adults caring for the young person to support understanding, communication and stability during the grieving process.
