Medicare Rebates

If you have a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, Psychiatrist, or Paediatrician, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate. These plans allow you to claim rebates for up to 10 individual therapy sessions per calendar year.

We can to process the Medicare rebate during your appointment, with the funds going directly into your nominated bank account. To do this, you’ll need to be registered with Medicare through Services Australia.

 

If you'd prefer to claim the rebate yourself, we can provide you with an invoice.

Private Health 

If you have private health insurance, you may be able to claim a rebate for psychology or allied health services.  Rebate amounts and item numbers vary between insurers, so please let us know the details so we can invoice correctly.

It is also important to note, you cannot claim from both Medicare and your Private Fund.  ​

What are Our Fees?

Our fees vary depending on the service you require and the clinician you see, as each practitioner brings different skills, experience, and areas of expertise. Most services are eligible for a rebate through either Medicare or your private health fund.

 

Some services such as NDIS and Workcover are covered by a third party and therefore do not cost you anything. We also offer sessions under Bupa Open Arms.

Does Evolving Minds Bulk Bill?

Evolving Minds Counselling and Psychology is not a bulk billing practice however, we do have low income options for those who hold a healthcare card.

What is Our Cancellation Policy?

At Evolving Minds Counselling and Psychology, we understand that life doesn’t always go to plan. While we aim to be flexible, we kindly ask that you give us as much notice as possible if you’re unable to attend. This allows us to offer the appointment to someone on our waitlist and helps you avoid a cancellation fee.

 

  • If a session is cancelled between 1 - 2 business day of the scheduled time or if the client fails to attend without notice, the full fee of the pre-scheduled service will be charged.

 

  • If a session is cancelled within 2 business days notice of scheduled appointment, 50% of the appointment fee will apply.

 

Our cancellation policy is strictly enforced and applies to all reasons for session cancellation, including instances of ill health, unless accompanied by a doctor's certificate.

How Can You Pay for Sessions?

Evolving Minds accept Eftpos, Credit Cards and Cash.

How Many Appointments Will You Need?

The number of sessions needed varies depending on your goals and presentation. Some people find a few sessions helpful, while others may benefit from longer-term support.

Our focus is on providing treatment that aligns with your individual needs. Each session is tailored to your goals, and progress is reviewed regularly. This approach helps ensure you stay informed, involved, and in control of your therapy.

How Long Does Each Session Last?

Individual sessions are 50 minutes in duration.

 

Initial couples and family sessions are scheduled for 1.5 hours to allow for a thorough assessment and understanding of your needs. Depending on the presentation, ongoing sessions may be offered as either 50 minute or 1.5 hour appointments.

Is Your Information Confidential?

Information gathered as part of the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of a client's mental health condition, remains confidential.  

 

There are specific situations where clinicians are legally required to break confidentiality, such as:

  • when a person is at risk of harming themselves or others;

  • if client records are subpoenaed by a court of law;

  • when there is concern that a child may be at risk of harm.

 

These legal requirements are in place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone involved. If you have questions or concerns about confidentiality, please don’t hesitate to speak with your clinician or the customer relationship team.​
