1. Who is Evolving Minds Counselling
Evolving Minds Counselling is a private practice consisting of a number of allied health professionals who are experienced in providing focused psychological therapy to children, adolescents and adults.
2. Where is Evolving Minds Counselling located?
Evolving Minds Counselling are located in Menai which is suburb in the Sutherland Shire easily accessible by private and public transport.
3. What is the cost of a session?
Our fees differ depending on the service you require. Some services such as Psychological Support Services and Workcover are covered by a third party and therefore do not cost you anything.
4. Do you Bulk Bill?
We are not a bulk billing practice however, do see clients who are eligible to access the Psychological Support Services (PSS) Initiative and Workcover. Both of these services are free however, in order to access this funding, you would need to visit your GP who will assess your eligibility and complete a referral form.

5. What is the Medicare Rebate?
The Medicare Rebate is available to clients who are referred by their GP, Psychiatrist, or Paediatrician by way of a Mental Health Treatment Plan. This includes children, adolescents, and adults.
The Medicare Rebate offers a rebate for 10 sessions per calendar year for Individual Therapy, and an additional 10 sessions per calendar year for Group Therapy.
6. How can I access the Medicare Rebate?
In order to access the Medicare Rebate you will need a Mental Health Care Plan which you can get from your GP, Paediatrician or Psychiatrist. They will also provide you with a letter of referral.
7. Are there Private Health Insurance Rebates?
Yes. If you have extras cover that includes psychology you will be able to claim a rebate from your health fund provider. The rebate varies depending on your level of cover, so please call your Private Health Fund for more information.
8. How can I pay for my sessions?
We accept Eftpos, Credit Cards and Cash.
9. How many appointments will I need?
This depends on the presenting issue. Some people require only a few sessions, while others require more comprehensive counselling.
Our focus is always on ensuring you receive the most effective treatment for you and that is why all sessions are tailored to everyone's unique presentation.
10. How long does each session last for?
Each individual session is 50 minutes.
11. What Happens If I Need to Cancel An Appointment?
We understand unexpected events can happen, however, to maintain our quality of care and timely services to all of our clients, we require at least 2 days notice if you are unable to keep your appointment.
Should you cancel within 48 hours of your scheduled appointment a fee of $84.80 will apply.
Should less than twenty-four hours notice be given the full fee will be charged.
12. Can I use NDIS?
If you have a NDIS plan that is self-managed or plan-managed then you will be able to see one of our clinicians.
13. Is my information confidential?
Information gathered as part of the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of a client's mental health condition, will remain confidential.
It is however, important to know there are exceptions in which all clinicians are mandated (by law) to break confidentiality. This is necessary when:
a person is at risk of harming themselves or others
client records are subpoenaed by a court of law.
a child is at risk of harm
