Interpersonal Therapy (IPT)
At Evolving Minds Counselling and Psychology
Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) is a structured, evidence based treatment that explores the ways relationships and social roles influence mental health. IPT focuses on four key areas, grief and loss, unresolved tension or conflict in relationships, major life changes, and difficulties in forming or maintaining meaningful relationships.
Originally developed to treat depression, IPT is now widely used to support a range of mental health presentations including:
-
Depression, including postnatal depression
At Evolving Minds Counselling and Psychology, our clinicians are trained in Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) and offer this evidence based approach to adolescents and adults. We understand how our relationships affect mental health, and how psychological distress can arise when these connections become strained, disrupted, or challenged. Interpersonal Therapy provides a structured and supportive space to explore relationship patterns, improve communication, and strengthen the connection with others.
Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) is an evidence-based approach that helps you explore patterns in how you relate to others and how these relationship dynamics can affect your mental health. Interpersonal Therapy can support you in working through unresolved grief, navigating relationship difficulties, and adjusting to major life transitions, such as becoming a parent, going through a breakup, or coping with the loss of a loved one. Sessions are collaborative and goal-oriented, focusing on improving communication skills and building stronger, healthier connections.
Therapy is tailored to your needs. Our clinicians create a safe, collaborative space where you can reflect on challenges, gain insight into relational patterns, and build confidence in how you communicate and connect with others.
We offer Interpersonal Therapy in person at our Sutherland Shire clinic and online.
