NDIS Counselling in Menai and the Sutherland Shire
NDIS counselling supports people so they can work toward the goals in their NDIS plan, particularly where their disability affects how they manage emotions, relationships, communication or daily life. The focus is on building skills and capacity in line with their current funding.
At Evolving Minds Counselling and Psychology in Menai, our psychologists and counsellors work with NDIS participants across the Sutherland Shire, including Menai, Sutherland, Miranda, Cronulla, Engadine, Sylvania, Caringbah and surrounding suburbs. We see children, adolescents and adults, with sessions available in person at our Menai practice and via secure online appointments anywhere in Australia.
How NDIS counselling can help
NDIS counselling supports people with a range of disabilities, including autism, ADHD and other neurodevelopmental, psychosocial and intellectual disabilities. Common areas of focus include:
-
Communication and social interaction
-
Emotional regulation and managing distress
-
Daily living skills, routines and independence
-
Building and maintaining relationships with family and support people
-
Self-understanding, self-advocacy and adjusting to a diagnosis
Counselling may include working through the impact of a diagnosis, building strategies for sensory and communication needs, and developing skills for school, work or community life. Sessions are shaped around what is most useful for each person at that point in time.
We also provide autism therapy and ADHD therapy as part of our NDIS work.
NDIS psychologist and NDIS counsellor in the Sutherland Shire
Our team in Menai includes registered psychologists, mental health social workers and counsellors, all experienced in working with NDIS clients. We see children, adolescents, adults and older adults, and work in a way that's tailored to each person's communication style, sensory needs and goals.
Our clinicians draw on evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) informed approaches, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and neuro-affirming and play-based therapy for younger clients. The approach is always tailored to the individual.
Online NDIS counselling
We offer online NDIS counselling for participants across Australia. It can be a good option if you live outside the Sutherland Shire, find travel to appointments difficult, or prefer the flexibility of attending from home.
Sessions are held via a secure, encrypted video platform.
NDIS plans we work with
We see NDIS clients whose plans are self-managed or plan-managed. Our psychologists and counsellors work with people across the Sutherland Shire and online across Australia.
If you have a support coordinator, we're happy to work alongside them so therapy fits well with your other supports.
