Inclusive Practice
At Evolving Minds Counselling and Psychology in Menai, we are committed to providing neuro-affirming, trauma-informed and inclusive psychological care for people from diverse backgrounds and communities. Our psychologists and counsellors work with individuals and families across the Sutherland Shire and southern Sydney, offering in-person sessions at our Menai practice as well as secure online therapy across Australia.
We recognise that identity, culture, relationships and life experiences can shape how people understand themselves and their mental health. Our practice aims to create a space where everyone feels respected, understood and supported in exploring their experiences.
You are welcome here exactly as you are. Our clinicians aim to provide a respectful, inclusive environment where people of all identities and backgrounds feel safe to speak openly.
Neurodiversity-Affirming Practice
Many of our clients identify as neurodivergent, including people with autism or ADHD. Our clinicians take a neuro-affirming approach that recognises different ways of thinking, communicating and experiencing the world.
Therapy may explore sensory experiences, social differences, emotional regulation and identity in ways that respect each person’s strengths, preferences and needs. You can learn more about these experiences on our Autism and ADHD pages.
Gender, Sexuality and Relationship Diversity
Our clinicians provide affirming therapy for individuals exploring gender identity, sexuality and relationship diversity. This includes people who identify as LGBTQ+, as well as those navigating questions about identity, relationships or life transitions.
Therapy offers a respectful and inclusive space to explore these experiences and develop greater self-understanding. For some, therapy may also involve working through experiences such as anxiety, low mood or relationship difficulties. You can learn more about these areas on our Anxiety and Depression pages.
Cultural and Social Diversity
People’s cultural background, family traditions, migration experiences and community contexts can influence how they understand mental health and relationships. Our clinicians aim to provide culturally respectful care that recognises the role of culture, language and family systems in shaping wellbeing.
We are mindful that cultural identity and community expectations can influence how people experience and express emotional distress, seek support or navigate life transitions.
Disability and Accessibility
We aim to provide a welcoming and accessible therapeutic environment for people living with disability, chronic health conditions or differences in physical, sensory or cognitive functioning.
Our clinicians recognise that disability can influence everyday experiences, relationships and emotional wellbeing. Where appropriate, therapy may be adapted to support communication needs, sensory differences or accessibility requirements. We also work collaboratively with families or support networks when this is helpful for the client.
Inclusive care is reflected across the services we offer, including therapy for anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, ADHD, autism and relationship difficulties.
At Evolving Minds Counselling and Psychology, we recognise that every person’s experiences, identity and relationships are unique. Our clinicians are committed to providing respectful, evidence-based and inclusive therapy where individuals and families feel safe to explore their experiences at their own pace.
If you are unsure where to begin, our Client Care Team can assist you in finding a clinician who may be the right fit for your needs. You can learn more about the areas we support on our Conditions We Work With page or contact our team on 02 8519 4197 to request an appointment.
