Online Counselling and Psychology Across Australia

Online therapy gives you more choice in who you work with, wherever you live. It can also make regular appointments easier to fit around work, study, family and other commitments.

At Evolving Minds Counselling and Psychology, our psychologists and counsellors provide secure video appointments for adolescents and adults across Australia.

Is online counselling right for me?

Online counselling may suit you if you live in a regional area, travel regularly, are relocating or find it difficult to attend appointments in person. You may simply prefer to speak with your clinician from home.

If you’re considering an online appointment, our article Is Online Counselling Right For You? explains what to expect from a telehealth session.

Your appointment takes place by secure video. As with an in-person session, you and your clinician can talk about what has brought you to therapy, what you would like help with and how you might work together.

You’ll need a phone, tablet or computer, a stable internet connection and somewhere private to take the call. We’ll send you the video link before your appointment.

Can I claim Medicare for online psychology?

Medicare rebates are available for eligible online therapy sessions with a psychologist or Accredited Mental Health Social Worker.

You will need an eligible referral, such as a Mental Health Treatment Plan, and Medicare requirements must be met. Our Client Care Team can confirm the applicable rebate when arranging your appointment.

What can online counselling help with?

Our clinicians provide online therapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, OCD, stress and burnout, relationship difficulties and life changes. We also work with adolescents and adults seeking therapy related to ADHD, autism and other forms of neurodivergence.

Your clinician will draw on approaches suited to your needs. These may include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Schema Therapy, EMDR, RO-DBT, DBT or Interpersonal Therapy. Online trauma therapy is also available, including EMDR delivered via secure video.

Online therapy for eating disorders

Our psychologists and counsellors provide online eating disorder therapy for adolescents and adults across Australia, including support for anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, ARFID and difficulties with eating and body image.

Depending on the person's presentation and circumstances, online therapy may include approaches such as CBT-E, MANTRA, Family-Based Treatment and other evidence-based approaches used in eating disorder therapy.

Where other health professionals are involved, therapy may form part of a broader multidisciplinary approach.

Online therapy for ADHD and autism

Therapy may focus on anxiety, emotional regulation, relationships, burnout, self-esteem or understanding how ADHD or autism affects daily life. Our approach is neuro-affirming and takes account of each person’s strengths, needs and experiences.
