At Evolving Minds Counselling and Psychology, we provide individualised therapy and psychological support for children, adolescents and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Established in 2017, our Menai practice in the Sutherland Shire offers autism counselling, supporting clients and families through care that is collaborative, inclusive and evidence-informed.
Our approach is neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based and person centered. We recognise that autism presents differently for each person, and we provide tailor support to reflect personal needs, preferences and goals. For some clients, art therapy provides a creative, non-verbal way to explore emotions, reduce anxiety and build connection without pressure to communicate in conventional ways.
Early intervention can play a valuable role in supporting development. Identifying autism in the early years allows our clinicians to work with families on communication, emotional regulation, adaptive behaviour, and social skills in a safe and supportive environment.
We also provide ongoing support across life stages, including starting school, navigating adolescence, and preparing for adulthood. Sessions may focus on independence, executive functioning, coping strategies, and social engagement, as well as supporting vocational readiness and managing co-occurring experiences such as anxiety, eating disorders, sensory sensitivities, and ADHD.
Our clinicians offer psychoeducation, tools, and emotional support to help families feel informed, confident, and connected. When appropriate, we collaborate with schools, support coordinators, and allied health professionals to ensure a consistent, coordinated approach to care.
