Women's Mental Health
Psychological Therapy in Menai and the Sutherland Shire
Women’s mental health is shaped by biological, psychological, relational and social factors. Changes in mood, anxiety, sleep, confidence, emotional regulation, relationships and identity may emerge over time or in response to life events and ongoing stress. These experiences often shift across different stages of adulthood.
At Evolving Minds Counselling and Psychology in Menai, we provide evidence-based psychological therapy for women across the Sutherland Shire. Sessions are available in person at our Menai practice and via secure online appointments.
Women may seek therapy during different life stages including pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause and menopause for:
-
anxiety and low mood
-
trauma and past experiences
-
relationship difficulties
-
parenting pressures
-
workplace stress
-
health-related changes
-
identity shifts and life transitions
Some women seek therapy later in life following a diagnosis of ADHD or autism, or while exploring longstanding patterns that may reflect neurodivergence. Hormonal changes, increased responsibilities or life transitions can intensify executive functioning challenges, emotional regulation difficulties or sensory sensitivity. Therapy provides space to understand these experiences within a neuro-affirming framework.
Our clinicians have experience in women’s mental health across different stages of adulthood, including Perinatal Counselling, menopause and midlife transitions. Therapy takes into account individual values, cultural context and goals, with respect for autonomy and lived experience.
Where appropriate, therapy may be integrated with Trauma Therapy and PTSD Counselling, Couples Counselling, or Individual Counselling, depending on presentation and needs.
Our clinicians practise within professional and ethical standards and engage in ongoing professional development to ensure care reflects current best practice.

Our Approach
Our approach recognises that women’s mental health is shaped by biological, psychological, relational and social factors across different stages of life. Therapy considers personal history, life context, values and cultural influences, recognising that experiences and needs evolve over time.
We work at a pace that feels comfortable, with attention to autonomy, strength and lived experience.
