Adolescent Counselling
at Evolving Minds Counselling and Psychology
While adolescence is a time of rapid emotional, social, and psychological growth, it can also be a time of confusion, stress, and overwhelm. As a parent or carer, it can be hard to know how to help. At Evolving Minds Counselling and Psychology, we provide specialised adolescent therapy for children and young people across the Sutherland Shire and online.
Our clinicians are trained in adolescent development and understand the importance of creating a space where young people feel safe, respected, and genuinely heard. We take time to build a strong therapeutic relationship so your teen can engage in therapy in a way that feels comfortable and meaningful to them.
Therapy is always tailored to each young person’s individual needs and developmental stage. Sessions may focus on exploring emotions, managing anxiety or depression, building resilience, developing healthy coping strategies, and improving communication or self-esteem. For adolescents experiencing issues such as social isolation, perfectionism, self-harm, school refusal, or difficulties related to ADHD, OCD, or eating disorders our clinicians provide structured, evidence based support.
We draw from a range of proven therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and DBT-informed approaches. These are adapted to suit the developmental stage and presenting needs of the young person.
Parents and carers are involved in therapy where appropriate and always with the adolescent’s consent. Strengthening relationships at home can be a key part of helping teens feel more supported, understood and connected.
