Support for Perfectionism
at Evolving Minds Counselling
Perfectionism is more than a drive to do well. it’s often linked to self-criticism, fear of failure and the belief that nothing is ever good enough. While setting high standards can be a strength, perfectionism can begin to affect confidence, relationships, and mental health. The good news is with the right support, perfectionism can be managed.

In children, perfectionism may show up as emotional outbursts, avoidance of tasks they fear they won’t get “right,” or distress over making small mistakes. In adolescents, it may lead to academic pressure, self-doubt, anxiety, or procrastination. For adults, it often presents as overworking, burnout, indecision, or a constant sense of not being good enough.

Over time, unrelenting standards can contribute to anxiety, panic attacks, low self-esteem, emotional exhaustion, and in some cases, eating disorders.

At Evolving Minds Counselling, we support people of all ages in understanding the impact of perfectionism. Our clinicians use evidence based therapies to reduce internal pressure, explore the beliefs that drive perfectionistic thinking, and support healthier, more balanced ways of relating to success, failure, and self-worth.
