Evolving Minds Counselling realises stress is a normal part of our lives however, the way we manage stress can directly impact our quality of life.   An increase in stress can make us feel overwhelmed, angry, sad, depressed and anxious.  It can also lead to difficulty with sleep, a decrease in motivation and impacts negatively on our health.  What contributes to stress also differs according to our environment, genetics and our individual circumstances. 

Stress can cause physical, emotional and behavioural changes which can  impact our relationships, ability to work, productivity and motivation to do the things we normally enjoy.  It can also increase anxiety and feelings of depression.

Stress can also cause headaches, nausea, indigestion and heart palpitations.  Stress is also linked to Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), stomach ulcers and cardiovascular disease.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Interpersonal Therapy has been shown to be helpful in managing stress by changing the way a person thinks about stressful situations and helping them develop coping strategies to deal with stress.
