Perinatal Mental Health
at Evolving Minds Counselling and Psychology
The transition to parenthood can be a time of great joy, however it can also bring challenges that can impact your mental health, relationships, and sense of confidence. At Evolving Minds Counselling and Psychology in the Sutherland Shire, we provide compassionate, evidence-based perinatal mental health support for individuals and families. We work with clients navigating pregnancy, birth trauma, postnatal depression and anxiety, infertility, pregnancy loss, and early parenting adjustment.
Our perinatal counselling is tailored to your unique needs, recognising that each experience is different. You may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or low in mood. You might be recovering from a traumatic birth, feeling disconnected from your baby or partner, or navigating grief and loss. Our clinicians also support couples facing the emotional strain and identity changes that can arise during the early parenting years, helping them strengthen communication and rebuild connection.
Our team is trained in a range of evidence-based parenting and attachment-focused programs, including, including Tuning into Kids, Bringing Up Great Kids, Peaceful Kids and Emotion Coaching. These approaches can be integrated into therapy to support emotional regulation, strengthen parent–child relationships, with the aim to creating calmer, more connected family environments. Where appropriate, we also offer family counselling to address broader relational challenges, such as conflict, communication difficulties, or adjustment to new family roles.
Whether you’re preparing for parenthood, adjusting to life with a baby, or seeking support after loss or trauma, you don’t have to face it alone. With the right support, it’s possible to feel more connected and confident in your parenting journey.
