Therapy for People with Disabilities
Evolving Minds Counselling and Psychology | Menai and Sutherland Shire
At Evolving Minds Counselling and Psychology, Menai, our qualified and experienced psychologists and counsellors provide compassionate, evidence-based mental health support for children, adolescents, and adults across the Sutherland Shire, including Bangor, Illawong, Alfords Point, and Engadine. Sessions are available in person at our Menai psychology practice and online across Australia.
Our team has extensive experience supporting people with a range of disabilities and neurodevelopmental conditions, including intellectual disability, autism, ADHD, global developmental delay, Down syndrome, acquired brain injury (ABI), sensory and communication differences, and physical or neurological conditions that impact daily functioning.
Therapy is person-centred and neuro-affirming, adapted to each individual’s communication style, preferences, and goals. Sessions may include emotion regulation strategies, social skills development, trauma-informed approaches, and emotion coaching for parents and caregivers. Our role is to create a safe, inclusive, and empowering space where clients and families feel supported to navigate challenges, build on strengths, and enhance overall wellbeing.
We draw on a range of approaches including art therapy, emotion regulation strategies, social skills development, trauma-informed care, and emotion coaching for parents and caregivers. Art therapy can be particularly effective for clients who benefit from non-verbal expression, sensory-based exploration, or creative ways of building self-awareness and communication.
If you are accessing therapy through NDIS plan-managed or self-managed funding, our team can help you find the right support.
