Eating Disorder Therapy

at Evolving Minds Counselling and Psychology

At Evolving Minds Counselling and Psychology, we provide evidence-based therapy for children, adolescents, and adults experiencing eating disorders, poor body image and body dysmorphia. Our clinicians offer compassionate, developmentally informed care that is tailored to each individual’s unique needs and stage of recovery. We recognise the complexity of eating disorders which is why we have undergone specialised training in a number of therapies, specific to the treatment of eating disorders.

We are committed to providing high-quality, specialised eating disorder treatment for adolescents and adults. Our clinicians are credentialed by the Australian and New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders (ANZAED) and are registered providers with the Butterfly Foundation, reflecting our dedication to best practice in eating disorder therapy. We support individuals experiencing Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge Eating Disorder, and body image concerns with compassionate, evidence based care. Based in the Sutherland Shire, our clinicians understand recovery is different for everyone, which is why we tailor therapy to each person’s goals and stage of recovery. We also support clients with Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), disordered eating patterns, and Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD).

Therapy is delivered within a collaborative, multidisciplinary framework. We work closely with GPs, psychiatrists, paediatricians, and accredited dietitians to ensure clients receive holistic and well-coordinated support. This integrated model aligns with national best practice guidelines and helps ensure that psychological, medical, and nutritional needs are all addressed throughout the recovery process.

At Evolving Minds Counselling and Psychology our clinicians are trained in the delivery of best-practice, evidence based treatments for eating disorders. We offer therapies recommended by national and international guidelines, including Enhanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT-E), Family-Based Therapy (FBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT-E), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Radically Open DBT (RO-DBT). This breadth of training allows us to tailor treatment to the individual, taking into account age, diagnosis, readiness, and personal goals. You can learn more about the therapies we provide on our Evidence Based Therapies page.
