Therapy for Social Anxiety

at Evolving Minds Counselling and Psychology

Social anxiety can make everyday situations, like talking to others, going to school or work, or attending social events, feel overwhelming. The fear of being judged, criticised, or embarrassed often leads to avoidance, distress, and reduced confidence. At Evolving Minds Counselling and Psychology, we offer compassionate, evidence-based therapy for children, adolescents, and adults experiencing social anxiety.

Social anxiety may present as persistent worry, fear of making mistakes, or difficulty speaking in front of others. Physical symptoms, such as blushing, sweating, shaking, nausea, or a racing heart, are also common. For some, social anxiety affects friendships, school, or work performance. Over time, it can contribute to low mood, isolation, and unhelpful coping strategies such as avoidance or substance use.

Our clinicians are experienced in treating social anxiety using a range of evidence based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based strategies, and Radically Open DBT (RO-DBT).   Therapy is available in-person at our Menai practice in the Sutherland Shire or online.
