Therapy for Self-Esteem and Confidence
at Evolving Minds Counselling and Psychology
Self-esteem plays a key role in how we view ourselves, navigate relationships, and respond to challenges. It influences our thoughts, behaviours, and ability to manage stress. When self-esteem is low, it can contribute to anxiety, depression, self-doubt, and difficulty reaching personal, academic, or professional goals.
Low self-esteem is also commonly associated perfectionism, eating disorders, school refusal, personality disorders and challenging behaviour. In many cases, it underlies emotional distress that impacts confidence and connection.
Healthy self-esteem means holding a realistic, balanced view of yourself. It supports emotional resilience, clearer decision-making and a more stable sense of identity.
At Evolving Minds Counselling and Psychology, we work with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing low self-esteem or related difficulties. Our clinicians provide a safe, non-judgemental space to explore negative thinking patterns, process difficult emotions, and build a more confident and compassionate relationship with self.
We use a range of evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR, and strengths-based approaches. We also offer Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills and Radically Open DBT (RO-DBT), which are particularly helpful for individuals who struggle with overcontrol, perfectionism, or emotional inhibition.
Therapy is available in-person at our Menai practice in the Sutherland Shire or online.
